From the desk of Zoe Washington

Written in 2020, this book explores the world of a girl who's African American. Zoe's dad went to jail just before she was born, so she has a step-dad. Life is going well until Zoe's twelve birthday. On her birthday, she gets the first letter ever from her birth-dad. Her dad says he's innocent. Zoe has to figure out why her father is in jail or if he's actually innocent but in jail just because he's African American.

Kate rates this book šŸ§šŸ§šŸ§šŸ§šŸ§ out of šŸ§šŸ§šŸ§šŸ§šŸ§. Along the way, Zoe explores friendship, prejudice, and fighting for the right thing.
