This book is about the development of chess pieces, especially the queen. The book covers the development of the queen, from its initial birth as a piece called the vizier to its transition to the queen, although at the time the queen was one of the weakest pieces on the chess board. It also talks about the queen gaining the current power in chess that it has today, being able to move an unlimited number of squares horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. What makes this book stand out is the fact that it compares the queen and chess in general to the politics of Europe. It goes through influental queens, describing how each might have influenced the queen's power in the game of chess.
I would rate this book 😃😃😃😃 out of 😃😃😃😃😃. It is very informative and I learned a lot from it. It is great for anyone who likes chess or history.
